It is no accident that there is an entire book of the Bible of psalms or songs to worship God. The psalms and canticles are prayed each day in the prayer of the Church called the "Liturgy of the Hours." In the document Sacred Music from the Second Vatican Council we find that "The unity of hearts is more profoundly achieved by the union of voices." At our Masses here at St. Mary's, we join our voices to the Lord as our four parish choirs and cantors assist us in our worship.
Parish Adult Choir - Leads the people in sung prayer at liturgies and other functions. The choir rehearses two hours per week and sings at the 9:30 a.m. Mass during the school year. For more information, contact Tim Claubaugh.
Contemporary Choir - Leads the singing at the 11:30 a.m. Sunday liturgy and other services throughout the year such as Confirmation and First Holy Communion. The choir rehearses two hours per week. For more informatioin, contact Heather Gerber.
Resurrection Choir - Lead the assembly in sung prayer at funerals and once a month at the Saturday 4:00 p.m. liturgy. The choir rehearses one hour per week. For more information, contact Tim Claubaugh.
Children's Choir - The choir rehearses one hour per week and sings once per month at Mass during the school year. For more information, contact Tim Claubaugh.
Cantors - Lead the congregation as a soloist from the cantor's stand at the weekend liturgies. Schedule is negotiated and they practice on their own time. There is also a need for an instrumentalist. For more information, contact Tim Claubaugh.
